Appointment Information

Public access to the University Archives & Historical Collections is provided in Conrad Hall, Room 101, by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled at least three (3) business days in advance: this reflects the time required to page materials and schedule staff. Appointment times are limited to hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM ET. For your visit to the University Archives Reading Room to be successful, these steps need to be followed.

  1. Prior to your appointment, review finding aids and then call 517‑355‑2330 or email University Archives & Historical Collections to request materials.
  2. Make an appointment to visit the University Archives Reading Room. Appointments are required and must be made no less than three (3)  business days in advance. The reading room is open Tuesday-Thursday, 10AM - 4PM.
  3. Complete the researcher registration form.

There are a limited number of seats available in the reading room. Seats are reserved based on the number of people in your party. If you are bringing others with you to your appointment, please request extra seating prior to your appointment. They also must fill out the required registration forms.

All University Archives & Historical Collections patrons are required to abide by all rules and directions of MSU, the MSU Libraries, and all MSU Libraries staff regarding the health and safety of patrons, staff, and the community. Visitors are expected to follow the reading room guidelines to ensure the long term preservation of the collections.
